THE UN CHARTER NEEDS TO BE REFORMED

Saint Michael Archangel Universal Corporation: COUSMA wants to be the voice of both the people and “The Universe.” With this premise in mind, we think it is an urgent need of the planet to deal with a critical issue of global governance: the need for a reform to the United Nations Charter to fulfill its ultimate purpose of protecting all peoples equally.

We strongly feel that the General Assembly and the Security Council need to have the capacity to issue global laws, resolutions, and mandates obligatory for every country on Earth. It is clear on the eyes of the whole planet that the Security Council needs to be reformed. The veto right and permanent membership for a few need to be eliminated. A security council like this, accountable to the General Assembly, would turn the UN into an institution more efficient in its role of upholding all members’ obligations.

Establishing a global police would also be an essential requirement for the purpose of turning the United Nations Organization into the global authority that the planet needs.

The global, political, and economic system that the UN need to create urgently for the planet is one where the world’s resources and wealth are distributed according to who is the neediest, not who is the most powerful or the greediest. When all this happens, neither nuclear weapons nor armies will make sense anymore. When does the world want this to happen? COUSMA urges all nations to support these much-needed transformations.
